About BLS-900 β Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics Survey
The BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) Survey collects employment and wage data from a sample of nonfarm establishments in the United States. Selected employers receive BLS-900 survey forms (or equivalent electronic reporting options) requesting counts of employees by occupational category and their corresponding wage rates. This data is used by the Bureau of Labor Statistics to produce the OEWS national, state, and metropolitan area wage statistics published annually β the same data referenced by USCIS in H-1B prevailing wage determinations. Response to selected BLS surveys is mandatory under 29 USC 2. The BLS provides detailed instructions and assistance to survey respondents.
