About Form I-90 — Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card
Form I-90 is used by lawful permanent residents to renew a green card that is expiring or has expired, or to replace a card that is lost, stolen, damaged, or contains incorrect information. Green cards issued after 1989 are generally valid for 10 years for permanent residents and 2 years for conditional residents. It is important to file I-90 well before your card expires, as employers require a valid card for Form I-9 verification. You can file Form I-90 online through the USCIS website or by mail. Conditional residents should file Form I-751 (not I-90) to remove conditions on residence.
