About Form 941 — Employer's Quarterly Federal Tax Return
Form 941 is filed by most employers four times per year — for quarters ending March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31. It reports the total wages paid to employees, the federal income tax withheld, and both the employee and employer portions of Social Security and Medicare (FICA) taxes. Form 941 is due by the last day of the month following each quarter. Employers who deposit taxes on time may have an additional 10 days to file. Agricultural employers use Form 943 instead, and seasonal employers may qualify for a reduced filing schedule.
