About Form 1065 — U.S. Return of Partnership Income
Form 1065 is the annual federal information return filed by domestic partnerships, multi-member LLCs taxed as partnerships, and certain foreign partnerships with U.S. source income. The partnership itself does not pay income tax; instead, income, deductions, credits, and losses are allocated among partners on Schedule K-1, which each partner reports on their individual or business return. Form 1065 is due March 15 (or the 15th day of the 3rd month after the end of the tax year). Partnerships may request a 6-month extension using Form 7004.
