About Form 4506-C β IVES Request for Transcript of Tax Return
Form 4506-C (IVES Request for Transcript of Tax Return) is used exclusively by Income Verification Express Service (IVES) participants β primarily mortgage lenders, banks, and financial institutions β to request tax transcripts directly from the IRS on behalf of borrowers. Unlike Form 4506-T (completed by the taxpayer), Form 4506-C is completed by the authorized third party and processed through the IVES program, which provides a faster response (typically within 2β3 business days). Lenders use 4506-C transcripts to verify business income, corporate returns, and partnership returns during underwriting. The form replaced older transcript request forms for institutional use.
